It's been a while. Summer involved several major shows, Pennsic as usual, two weeks in subarctic Canada with the National Guard, helping Gail with her PT (still, but medical issues slowed things down), and a bunch of writing and trying to catch up on custom blades. All ordered copies of The Weapon have been shipped. If you do not receive yours in the next few days, contact me. I'm also working up my fan club letter and some other promotional stuff. Confirmed Kill is shipping, and I'm told it's very visible in bookstores and even groceries--endcaps and eye level. But as always, if you can't find my stuff in stores or would like a signed copy, you can order directly from me. I am pursuing a contract on a non-fiction work about medics in combat. The idea came about because Gail's aunt is a nurse currently deployed. Baen is also interested in another SF title, but nothing has been agreed to or signed yet. My current near future SF colaboration is on hold, pending another solo project or two for name recognition. I have short stories in "Crossroads," the next anthology in Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar universe, and in Joe Haldeman's "Weapons of War" anthology. My new T-shirt design is up on the bibliography page. I've been asked about doing Freehold Forces T shirts. If there's enough interest, certainly, I'll print some. Email me if you like the idea. I have a couple of designs in mind.

Well, it's been a while. I apologize. After eight grueling months of prep, my wife qualified and shipped to Basic Combat Training. I spent ten weeks as moral support for her, and adapting to being a single parent for the next year while she's in training. Things are somewhat stable now, with her at DINFOS. If you would like to help make her enforced spartanism a bit more tolerable (seeing as she's twice the age of most of her training company and has little in common with them), her wishlist is here. It's under my name--stuff gets shipped here and I will forward it. There's one book on the list that's for me--Andy McNabb's. I'm using it for research about that kind of fiction. As to current projects, I am proofing The Weapon and Confirmed Kill, and the covers for both are quite striking. I'm wrapping up a near future SF, but it's not contracted yet. For sufficient money, you can buy it out from under other publishers. I'm easy. I'm just not cheap. I have a nonfic proposal out, and also a proposal for another contemporary series. All existing series can be extended if you buy enough books to make the publishers notice. Happy Tax Protest Day.

Today, Gail packed up for Basic. She's got a second physical and a PT test before she can enter training, so no party yet. In other news, the third Target: Terror novel is retitled "Confirmed Kill" and comes out in Sept 05. Ironically, it's set in Aceh, which few people had heard of until a few days ago. I studied the area as much as I could. A rich history, a very attractive mix of Chinese and Malay, and lots of strife, money and politics. A fascinating area. Condolences and wishes to everyone there. If I had the money to travel, I'd show up with a shovel.
