On Medium (so called because its contents are neither rare nor well done) last year, some clown bleats that Paw Patrol, the kids' show, is an authoritarian metaphor for the Trump administration!
It was created by a CANADIAN in 2013.  And in fact, the authoritarian statism and eco-fascism within are more typical of the so-called "left."

Back in early 2002, with a war on, I get told, "Oh, yes, it's hard with gas prices so high. Crazy Republicans. What can you do?"
Me: "Um, gas doubled in 1998, when Clinton was president."

They're also a fucking thief who thinks they're entitled to any amount of your productivity they deem reasonable, because of the magic of roads...which predate socialism.  Once again, shitheads claim credit for something they didn't do, and attempt to pass the blame for their own failure onto others.

Socially, and possibly evolutionarily, the typical Demorrhoid ranks somewhere between a dung beetle and a leech. They survive off the waste of actual productivity, and complain about how much effort it takes, so if you could just pull them out of the muck and attach them to a vein, that would be great.  They're literally incapable of comprehending they'd be sucking productivity out of a healthy economy, while poisoning it with their filth.

If you can find an ACTUAL socialist, you can sometimes have a reasonable philosophical discussion with them.  They might even admit they're dealing with a guiding principle that can't succeed alone in the real world. If you find an OLD SCHOOL LIBERAL, you'll find they support civil freedom, and a mutually supportive state. You will probably disagree with them on how much state intrusion is beneficial. History shows they tend to be a bit idealistic, but idealism tempered with caution yields a healthy society.

The textbook example is the bleat that voter ID is racist because "black people" might have trouble getting ID.

There are more white people living in poverty than black people, but somehow, liberals forget to mention them, because of their "privilege."

TRANSLATION: They think white people are smart enough to handle this mythical problem, but black people aren't.

With so much medieval imagery being co-opted by the alt-right(1), SCA members need to think very carefully about what symbols they use. Okay, so this dudebro (assuming his gender) has a PhD in "Modern History," and does some jousting and just recently discovered the SCA (per other sources).  He even claims on his website to be a "consultant" to the SCA, which is not something any credible historian would list as a bona-fide.  Consulting with what is effectively a fantasy LARP is not something that will get you hired anywhere. 

He showed up, held this little condescension session about what we've been doing wrong since 1968, and then NAMED A MERCHANT BY NAME and claimed the individual was a "Secret white supremacist" selling "Secret Nazi symbols" in his tent.

And he's got a Buddhist sunwheel he bought to prove it. The same Buddhist sunwheel used on maps to mark temples, that both Wikipedia and the Anti-Defamation League agree is in no way a Nazi symbol.

We only recently got (mostly) past the point where we aren't accused every week of being Satanists holding orgies. There were even lawsuits and criminal charges to this effect.  So as far as public perception, we've got a pretty good handle on dealing with ridiculous charges--Satanism, orgies, "Alt-right"ism, etc.  In fact, due to the Satanic claims, we had to prohibit any pentacle as an heraldic device, including those that are documented for various Christian groups.

We've had a number of people try to go after Crusader personae as "racist," even when the people with those personae are black or Arabic.

There have been literally thousands of classes on things like, "Cross-dressing in Renaissance Italy," and "Gender roles in the Viking Era" and even "Transgender people in history and historical context."  We've got this covered. Thanks for your concern.  If you'd like to learn about any of this, please look at the class schedule.

If you're actually concerned about historical symbolism vs Nazi appropriation, one Auntie Arwen on site is mundanely Jane Sibley, PhD, with her doctorate in Norse Runes, who has a very detailed presentation on the Norse, Aryan, Persian, Indian and Mongolian symbology the Nazis stole, and corrupted into a horrifyingly creepy occult religion hidden behind their politics.  You should ask her. You'd learn a lot. Possibly even enough to have a relevant, if minimally informed, opinion.

You might look all this up and get educated as to things you clearly know nothing about.  You might even gain some perspective.

In the real world, one of the founders of this society was a pedophile, though not active about it IN the society, and a few years back we had a couple of others hurting kids, that required a complete re-write of our guidelines to keep children safe.

And you're worried about a Buddhist symbol.

As someone involved with SCA, I would expect you to know or be aware of,  or have access to information sources that would shed light on, the many symbolic uses of the swastika as a symbol before the Nazis used it.

I find your comments and threat of action to be distasteful, harassing towards my client, and likely defamatory in nature.

I assure you that while you might hate Nazis as much as I do, you can not possibly hate them more. I want them all dead at least as much as they want me dead. I was raised on Never Forget and Never Again in a community that made sure education included interacting with the survivors still living among us.

First, contact the merchant coordinator, and say, "I have an issue I'd like addressed, and some clarification please."  Her Excellency, a Court Baroness, MKA Cindy Cooper, has been running this show for more than 30 years.  The merchant office is right across from Troll, and from Security.  I'm not going to guess how she might respond, but I guarantee if you bring a problem with a merchant to her attention, she'll deal with it, and her ruling will be final. UPDATE:  Turns out this PhD has written very few actual papers, but lots of fan commentary about GoT and the SCA.  He defends the SCA elsewhere, attacks it within, so he's a classic attention whore.

And apparently fell for the "milk is racist" crap from 4chan a couple of years ago.  He's an idiot. Apparently, he hoped his PhD would make up for a lack of 50 IQ points, and is frustrated that it doesn't.

Jesus Titty-fucking CHRIST, this column was supposed to be weekly.  I could do a dozen a day if I had the time.

Suppose you were Indiana Solicitor General Thomas Fisher, and suppose you'd made history by getting SCOTUS to LITERALLY FUCKING LAUGH AT YOU for standing by your position that the 8th Amendment magically doesn't apply to the states, and that it's hypothetically perfectly reasonable to seize a half million dollar car for a 5 MPH over speeding violation.

Now, in such case, you'd probably come back and say, "Well, guys, that's it. We tried."

But no! This complete cockgobbler doubles down and says, "That was only regarding CIVIL forfeiture! So as long as we can prove a tenuous connection between the property and the owner and some utterly unrelated crime, it's still valid!"

This is literally precedent for the state to impose a death penalty and seizure of your entire estate for speeding. And yes, I know a bunch of liberal retards just read that and claimed I'm an hysterical right-winger (for wanting a smaller government? That's the exact opposite of how a "right wing" works, shit for brains), except I keep making these predictions, and we keep following the curve. But they love sucking government cock so much they just can't quit it.

Digressing. It wasn't even the state that seized this vehicle. It was a third party who then seized the vehicle and transferred it to the state, who presumably sold it, since the plaintiff wants it back and they're fighting this hard to avoid doing so.

Institute for Justice lawyer Sam Gedge says in a statement to Reason that Indiana "has resorted to an increasingly dangerous view of governmental power" over the years it has been fighting to keep Timbs' car.

"In the State's view, it can constitutionally forfeit a Bugatti that goes five miles over the speed limit. And the State insists that it can take any property from any person who has ever struggled with drug addiction," Gedge says. "That boundless view of governmental power cannot be squared with the Constitution."

Yeah, no shit.

On the positive side, since SCOTUS laughed in his face once, they will hopefully do so again, and this asset forfeiture faggotry, which is government-sanctioned highway robbery, will come to an end. That means pig departments nationwide will have to do actual law enforcement, not theft by false warrant, and will weep and wail. We'll cover them in a future column.
