A paraphrase of Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy is that bureaucrats will ALWAYS go to far.

We started with "two weeks of restricted events." Tough, but bearable, and a good idea. I supported this.  It was a personal bite to me on my part time gig--a show was shut down literally as I arrived to load in. Okay.  Let's do this.  Then a bigger one had to postpone because they're 1 day into the existing timeframe, no exceptions, no "let's see if that's enough by next week."

Then the states got into a "We're more quarantine than you!" war.

Blah, blah, the CDC.  Per them, no woman of child bearing years should EVER even look at a bottle of liquor, no two people should ever kiss without a doctor's exam first, and we should all live in plastic bubbles.  There's hypothetical perfection, and then there's reality, which has kids playing in mud and licking slides others have slid down.

Instead, we have schools closed, possibly for the year.  Gyms closed. All public events shut down. No, wait, maybe no more than TEN people at a time is better.  No sports.  No spring break. No parks!
So what are all these out of school kids supposed to do?  Who stays home to watch them if (we're lucky, most aren't) people can't work from home?

Now the goddamned pediatricians are saying well, we can't give your kids their immunizations because of disease. We'll have to "Reschedule."  Are you TRYING to give the anti-vaxxtards ammo?  Because THIS is how you give the anti-vaxxtards ammo.

The OB-GYN said they can only see single patients without their infants along, figure it out somehow.

Um...why are senior citizens going to pediatricians and OB-GYNs? If they're not, then why not advise the elderly that you're going to be out in public, so Grandma shouldn't visit this month. If you live in an area where it's been an issue.

"This bug kills old people!" Yes, and others at risk. Like me. Who should stay home.

"But people will die!"  Jesus, that sounds like Liz "Psychogawea" Warren.

This is literally creating the End of Western Civilization As We Know It over a fucking bug.

"But people will die!"

Then they fucking die.  There's a cost benefit analysis here.  After enough lost revenue, wages, activities, people stop giving a shit.  If they die, they die. Most of them are urbanites anyway, smug in their myth of "efficiency."  They can fucking die efficiently, and be efficiently processed into dump trucks.  You may have heard this motto if you hang around rural folk for a bit:  Five million fewer urbanites is five million fewer urbanites.

And again, those of us who are susceptible should be minimizing contact anyway.  You cannot develop herd immunity for the rest by not having herds. We'll come back to that.

Some shithead on Medium (so called because it is neither rare nor well done) lamented we may "never" beat...an upper respiratory infection.  Like the 10 million strains of URIs we already have, many of which are... (CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC!)--coronavirii, of different strains. This one is already mutating into subcultures.  Which still have more "culture" than your typical city.

And guess what?

Everyone is going to the fucking store. In herds.

BTW, around here, the pussification of yuppies meant they'd cleared out the lowfat and no fat and soy "milk," but left the real whole milk. Please don't tell them that diluting it 50% with water will create their preferred tasteless, nutritionless white drink.

Then, restaurants are still doing delivery...which means the same Uber driver stop at 5 restaurants and 5 houses 3 times a night, along with 12 other Uber drivers, and a hundred random pickups.  This is like avoiding VD by skipping the fetish club and only going to singles bars. It's a fuck-all security theater move.  We call this "Wetting your pants in a dark suit."  It gives you a warm feeling, but nobody notices, and then you realize you're the one suffering.

It is time to mobilize to beat this.  Call your mayor, call your governor, call your president, tell them to stop being a huge pussy, to go fuck themselves, and then get on with the real world.

Oh, and Trump? Yeah, if you could stop being a massive faggot, that would be just great.  Tell the CDC to STFU, Americans have a world to run.

It's hilarious when Demorrhoids and complete shitheads (But I repeat myself) attempt to claim that libertarians (Which I'm not) are somehow magically fascist or Nazi, which they claim are the same thing, while totally not being the same as their own fetishized version of a totalitarian police state.

A like-minded fellow vet and I were kicking around what we'd do if ever elected president (I'm an immigrant, so I'd have to be Benevolent Dictator).

Day 1:  Vacation of federal sentences with full pardons:

Anyone in jail on a drug charge that doesn't involve selling to minors.  Your sentence is vacated. You are pardoned.  Go engage in free market economics. This also applies to bootleggers, distillers, and anyone with a liquor license violation.

Anyone in jail on a non-violent firearm charge.  Your sentence is vacated. You are pardoned.

Anyone in jail for a crime involving consenting adults (strippers, prostitutes, etc).  Your sentence is vacated. You are pardoned.

Anyone who accepted a plea deal in lieu of a bunch of intimidating bullshit by the government's official jack-booted death squad and its legal apparatus:  Pardoned for the pled crime. If the Feds, State or Locals want to try again on an actual charge they think they can prove, that's up to them. Though if it's a drug or firearm charge, they may want to save their time and money.

Tax evaders:  Sentences commuted.  IRS can hire collection agents like every other debt.

Every government agency will be instructed to continue Trump's policy of removing two regulations for every new regulation. In addition, they will be ordered to commence an immediate 10% reduction in personnel via attrition--retirement, dismissal, resignation, etc. If they need to fire additional drones to make it happen, fine. Last hired, first fired. If this means some department heads have to move back into customer service and deal with actual people, good. Oh, that's 10% per year. I want them 2/3 their current size within four years. That puts them at 43% in 8 years. Though I'd consider upping the rate to 20% for a second term. DoD and the Judiciary can petition for exceptions on a case by case basis. We would probably say no.

Only three federal agencies get to be armed:  FBI, ICE, and the Marshals.  Any agency that believes it needs armed force can call the ever-decreasing number of Marshals and request to be on the waiting list.  ICE actually needs armed guards at the border.  The FBI can arm agents who actually deal with actual criminals--terrorists, kidnappers, traffickers.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program would be immediately budgeted and instructed to update from M-1 Garands and sell AR-15s at cost to the American public.  Some of the money saved elsewhere would be used to expand shooting range access in every county. Congress would be instructed to repeal the NFA if they know what's good for them.

~~

I'm sure some "liberal" will be along momentarily to tardsplain how this is actually racist and fascist and I should be hanged from a gas station for dismantling the bureaucracy that makes us free.

Which is why I pretty much stopped bothering listening to anything from the American left.

If I actually express my personal opinion of the below person, his fellow travelers, who have already had several of my social media accounts silenced, attempted to ban my books and attempted to SWAT me will probably threaten my kids again.  So I'll be as moderate as I can.

I would vote for socialism over authoritarianism.

Socialism is totalitarianism. You are not even you anymore. This is the worst case of grifting I have ever seen.

The funny thing is socialism is a euphemism for communism which is a euphemism for authoritarianism. ThatΓÇÖs ironic-ism.

Can you please read up on the terms "socialism" and "totalitarianism"? Even just the Wikipedia articles for each one would help you understand how different and even radically opposed those two ideas are.

~~

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarianism
 Yes, this says Socialists can be totalitarian, you lying, retarded, subhuman communist piece of shit.

It even provides a list. Most of them are socialist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_totalitarian_regimes

Gee. Even Wikipoo can't hide THAT truth in leftist weasel-wording.

Round Two:

Anyone reading me regularly knows I've been quite critical of Trump. He's managed to be not as bad as Hillary Clinton, the actual National Socialist, but it's a low bar.

But the "authoritarian" line, while accurate, fails at all to be scaled.  If you have anarchist me at 0% government, Trump is around 35%, Bloomberg is around 65%, and the Demorrhoid Party is pretending it's not already around 80%, cheering itself on to slide to 146%

There's the utterly ridiculous comparison to Hitler, which has been bandied about regarding almost every recent president, but in actuality is only accurate regarding FDR, who near as I can tell wanted Adolph to swing by and fuck him across the bed in an orgy of mutual anti-semitism, race hatred and eugenics.

Some things Hitler did:

Price fixing

Sanctions against LGBTs

Sanctions against Jews

Death Camps

Nationalized single payer health care

Nationalized industry

Started a world war

Banned gun ownership along racial lines

Universal gun licensing for citizens

Colluded with Russia

Instituted a military draft

Allied with Arab militants

Developed a national secret police

Banned political dissent

Sent thugs around to smash dissenters and their businesses

~
Donald Trump, for all his faults, has done none of these.

Though the Demorrhoid Party either has previously, has as its platform, or openly endorses:

Price fixing

Sanctions against Israel

Nationalized single payer health care

Started US involvement in two world wars

Banned gun ownership along racial lines

Universal gun licensing for citizens

Colluded with the USSR

Instituted AND re-instituted the draft

Openly courts Arab militants

Openly pushes for national secret police AND has de facto created them under the table

Uses its propaganda arm (the media) to stifle dissent.

Publicly endorses thugs who go around smashing dissenters and their businesses.

So, gee, which party has all the authoritarian trappings AND violence of both the Nazis and the Communists?

Yeah, the fucking Demorrhoid Party.

They are Literally Hitler, while accusing everyone else of being so.  (Including me. Apparently, actual anarchists who despise the existence of government secretly want A REPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT!  Paid for by ABSOLUTELY NO TAXES!  With the power to DO NOTHING! Except repress people by inaction!)

I'll probably get pre-banned from another convention for this, because two things Demorrhoids can't stand are redpill truth and public dissent.

Bill's Politipalooza

Yesterday at 10:30 AM ·

There are very legitimate arguments against Medicare for All. I am against M4A and am very happy to explain why. However, new government expenses and taxes aren't really among the reasons. It's super hard to see a cancer patient holding a 6-figure bill and then complain about my taxes going up. It's super hard to see the $trillions spent on needless war and then complain about new government spending on its citizens. Lastly, when neither party gives a damn about debt and deficit, I simply cannot talk about the expense of M4A with a straight face. Fiscal sustainability is problematic with M4A, but it is a weak argument for most Americans given the current reality. I believe there are solutions far better than M4A, but let's debate them and stop thinking its a mic-drop moment when you ask to see the price tag. It's not!

~~~
Sure it is. I can hand you a million dollar bill for a dying kid every ten seconds. If you care about these people, you'll pay it, right?
Every person starts with a responsibility to themselves, their immediate family and friends, then their neighborhood, community, politic, and species in that order.
If you place the charity of random strangers above your own immediate circle, you are generous, but also a drain on on your own resources, and you will run out of them in short order.
Not every problem in the world is your problem or my problem. That is a harsh reality.
Is it reasonable to support your immediate circles? Yes, because you will gain similar benefit in response. Is it reasonable to offer some limited support further out, as available? Absolutely. Should you starve your own family to do so? Well, you can, but I won't.
Literally anyone can write a check to the Dept of Health and Human Services, or any other gov't agency, and it will be cashed. Demands for legislative force mean those people want SOMEONE ELSE to be made to donate, not themselves. You can find plenty of news stories about it, too. "I didn't think _my_ taxes would go up!" They voted for SOMEONE ELSE to get screwed out of resources.
If you go to the bank and say, "I need a loan for a new roof," you'll probably get it. The infrastructure helps your family and its economics. If you say, "I need to borrow $10,000 to give to some kid with cancer in Kansas," they're going to refuse, and they should. Taxes, especially deficits, should be going for critical societal needs such as infrastructure and defense. Charity is a luxury a wealthy nation can afford to a certain degree. The nation that mandates it as a non-discretionary entitlement, while considering infrastructure and defense to be discretionary, is on the slope to destruction.
Then there's the reality that the same government that spends $500 on hammers, denies painkillers to cancer patients, and negligently exposed at least 6000 veterans to HIV shouldn't be making ANY health care decisions.
